Our recommendations for needed change at BCAC, in support of animal welfare, include:

THREE DAYS IS NOT ENOUGH TIME for rescue groups to arrange foster homes and transportation out of the shelter, which poses a significant challenge for animal welfare. Currently, dogs and cats can only leave this animal control facility in three ways: through reclaim by their rightful owners, via rescue organizations or through euthanasia. This situation highlights the urgent need for more compassion for homeless animals.

EQUAL VISIBILITY FOR ALL ANIMALS. Maintain a consistent and active social media presence that reflects our commitment to animal welfare, featuring intake postings, open kennel numbers, and professional behavior assessments of all animals. Ensure that ALL animals are promptly entered on PetFinder and shared on the Bartow Animal Rescue Connection (BARC) social media page. Many animals have never been posted publicly!

Restore communication with rescues and advocates who were banned for exercising their 1st Amendment Rights by expressing concern over injuries and deaths at BCAC. This is crucial for fostering animal welfare and ensuring that animal advocates can continue their mission of compassion for animals.

Implement a Friendly Finder - Foster Program that allows 'stray holds' to be completed in the finder's home, promoting animal welfare. BCAC will provide core vaccines and preventive care during the hold time.

Establish a Community Cat Program that supports Trap-Neuter-Return for feral cat populations.
Install indoor cameras for accountability to enhance animal welfare.
Bartow County must demonstrate a willingness to collaborate with animal advocates and allow Bartow County 'Animal Control' to evolve into Bartow County 'Animal Services,' showcasing our compassion for animals.
How you can help: Attend rallies, share updates, and educate Bartow residents about the importance of animal welfare—many are unaware of what's happening! Call and email the County Commissioner-Steve Taylor, the Mayor of Cartersville, and local media outlets.
SPEAK UP: Demand transparency, accountability, and reform now for the sake of Bartow Animals and show your compassion for the homeless pets waiting to be rescued. This is urgent.
